- 1/20/2009 · Domestic audio amplifiers do not output power, they control the voltage. Power is drawn by the speaker, and the amount drawn is inversely proportional to the speaker's impedance: W = V**2/Z, where W is the power in Watts, V is the voltage (as output by the amp) and Z is the speaker's impedance. The speaker's impedance typically varies with frequency, so that the power drawn varies accordingly.

- 4/30/2017 · I'm pretty sure that there is no amp out there that runs Class A with 200 Wpc into 8 ohms as the amp would problably weigh over 200 pounds. For example, the old Classe CA-400 weighed 120 lbs and did 400 Wpc into 8 ohms & 800 Wpc into a 4 ohm load but it's Class A was the first 80 watts then it went into Class AB.

- 5/19/2018 · I was very tempted as it looks cute and would be fun to build, but on paper it looks more like a T-Amp competitor than a serious little class A amp to me. If the 8 Watts was at 0.1% and it got somewhere close to doubling power as impedance halved like a Krell or other good class A amp I’d have bought one. Maybe even the bridged 15W monos.

At the moment amp is untested other than powering it up and inspecting inside visually. this is the 4 tuber, ONE tube NOT lighting up. I might have a spare 811 not sure of operational condition was from a Collins 30L1.

- 11/14/2013 · I can comment of guitar tube amps though, because when I plug in to practice or record or simply try to entertain my neighbors, It really settles in after 20 minutes to a half hour or so...this with any one of a number of tube amps I currently use, and especially with a Class A amp I just bought. So there.
