Show activity on this post. I have booted up linux machine sitting at console login screen. Now I connect to that machine via ssh and I want to log user to displayed tty. Basically I want to bypass the login prompt in the console and go to the shell. However what I do not want is auto-login on boot, I want to manually trigger the login via ssh.

Hi, I'm running latest xfce build (19.1) on my laptop now. There's no problems in my installation but on every boot i see a "tty login" prompt on black screen (like DOS). The system waits for me to input a user name and password but proceeds to login after some time (like 15-20 seconds, maybe more) regardless whether i enter credentials or not.

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1138357/how-to-enable-switch-back-to-running-gui-from-tty-in-18-04
I can login in the tty, do whatever I wish. When I Press Alt-F1, I get to the login-screen, not back to running GUI session. Alt-F7 leads to a black screen. When I switch to the login screen, and login, I get a fresh GUI-Login. The programs have been terminated, the unsaved data and status is lost. This is annoying.

About 9/10 times, when I reboot or cold boot, I am left on a black screen with a blinking cursor. I used to just hold the power button to force shut down my laptop and boot it again, and usually on the third try I was able to log in. Recently, I realized instead of force shutting down I can just cycle a few ttys (for instance tty4-tty6-tty2-tty1) to be able to get the login screen to show up ...

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/11916468/full-screen-arch-linux-in-virtual-box
You should increase your screen resolution in Arch Linux. This usually happens when you run operating systems in a virtual box. The OS you're running in the VB won't know what resolution to use so it usually sets it to 640x480 or something else. So, change your resolution in Arch Linux...not your main OS.
