    I never use the word safe because it’s too broad of a term. I have no experience of telling you if you should or should not use a Duraflame type of log. personally, I do use them and I use them in a prefab, never burn more than one at time, and if you’re using wood I would use the smaller firestarters.

    19.01.2007 · The Duraflame logs will cause buildup of creosote in the FP and chimney. You are better off sticking with a hardwood (oak etc) and not worrry about buildup. I use duraflame logs in my outdoor firepit to start fires. They burn fast, help ignite the wood logs and make lighting the fire much easier.
