If it is longer than 15 characters, this will prevent sign in. Once you have changed your Microsoft password to something lower, it should allow you to sign into the in-game client.

There's a specific way you have to install GFWL. Get the installer from their website (so it's the latest one), right click, go to compatibility mode and switch it to whatever OS you have, then check the "Run as Administrator" box. I changed my Xbox Live password recently and found I couldn’t login to GFWL this evening. “No problem”, I thought. Just change the password to my new one. No, I can’t change the password. I can select the password field. It’s active, I can move the cursor back and forward but I can’t type or delete the * characters.
