- If the light remains amber, unplug the GoFlex Net Network from the power source and plug it back in. Ensure that DHCP is enabled on your router. DHCP is usually enabled on home networks. If it is not, you will have trouble connecting to the GoFlex Net. If you need assistance enabling DHCP on your router, see your router documentation.

- We connect to it over the network, by plugging it into its dock (Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex HOME). Haven't used it in ages, and need to get into it ASAP now to retrieve family pictures. (thousands of them). When I go to the IP address of the unit, it brings me to the Seagate login screen for the drive. (as usual).

- Once that is all complete, I'm able to boot the goflex home and gain root access no problem. After I try to write to the disk with updates, I start to have failures and the inability to use basic commands and eventually the OS stops responding and gets stuck on I/O errors.
