    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=248738
The login screen looks healthy, Plasma is the only option in the Session drop-down menu. The problem is, that after logging-in to my non-root user, I get a flash of a black terminal screen and then I'm back to the login screen. What could be supposedly wrong? Any help would be appreciated since I'm really fresh to the whole Arch distro itself.

Plasma loading screen hangs happens me too (it happens, it's a general fact). Usually it causes (at least for me) to set up the panel (I adjust the panel as I need it, 20x reboot without problems, then it suddenly crashes.) I solve it by having a backup of plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc and if that happens I will restore from a backup ...

KDE Tip - Switching NumLock On at the KDE Login Screen ...

    https://fosswire.com/post/2008/06/kde-tip-switching-numlock-on-at-the-kde-login-screen/
To see your changes, you might need to restart KDM. The easy, but slower, way to do this is to restart the computer, but you can also try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to restart the graphics server which should bring KDM back up again. Num Lock should now be on at the login screen. Shame it had to be so complicated. Peter Upfold Tips & Tutorials KDE

In order to get KDE login, you need to run KDM, which you choose by writing DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"

Re: KDE Login Screen (SDDM) and Power Management. I would say, sleep before user login has to be handled system wide. That may be done by systemd. Very probably the service in charge is disabled, as that is the preset (at least in Leap 15.2). They can be invoked with "enable" and the "start" instead of "status".

If I press return, I get the login screen back and I can enter my password. When I do this, the screen goes blank, then black, then the login screen briefly flickers on and then goes black again with the arrow showing again. Pressing return brings the login screen back with a Login failed message. The password is very simple and is correct.
