- When i type "root" or "dentrax" (my username) at the "arch login", waits ~10 seconds and does not ask for a password. It is continuing to ask for login name again forever even when i type "root". The system boots normally (grub still works fine) and the welcome screen is still running when booting.

After rebooting the laptop and booting into Linux Mint 19.1 my friend put's in his password at log in the screen goes black and takes him back to log in again. If he tries to log in again it does the same thing.

- It's an indication that there is no space on your root partition. Log into the terminal, enter Code: Select all df / and look in Available column. You can make free space from the Grub Advanced Recovery menu, or try to enter in the terminal sudo apt clean or boot in the live session from installation USB and use a file manager. -=t42=-

- Eventually the screen goes dark as the screensaver kicks in, I suppose. I can log in to a terminal session with ctrl-alt-F1, and use startx to get to the desktop.
