- 6/26/2007 · The ILO has it’s own IP address, this is the address that we use to connect to the ILO, not the server, not windows, the ILO, so that if the server is down, or I can’t connect in windows, I can connect to the ILO. The ILO has it’s own username and password for security, it can be (and typically is) separate to your windows or linux log in.

- 5/22/2017 · The shared iLO function is a perfectly valid approach to wiring up your iLO. As has been stated, it needs it's own IP Address and depending on the iLO version that IP can be on a separate VLAN than the NIC/server is on. Though doing so requires your network admin to work some magic. NIC 1 in HP servers has a special hardware hook into the iLO.
