drivers - login loop after ubuntu 20.04 update - Ask Ubuntu

One thing I would recommend is not to use the automatic login on Ubuntu 20.04 because that is what caused me to get into an infinite login loop since the machine thinks I am already logged in even though I am not. On Login screen of Ubuntu 20.04 where I have been stuck for some time, I simply switch to get command mode. For that press, CTRL+ALT+F3, this will drop you on the command line interface with login option. However, to exit Command line, you can use keyboard shortcut that is CTRL+ALT+F2, to get back the Graphical User Interface.

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1231410/cant-log-in-on-ubuntu-20-04
In Ubuntu 20.04 the reason for this login screen loop can also be in conflicting environment variables setup ( $PATH ). In case PATH variable is assigned in several places simultaneously like: /etc/environment /etc/profile ~/.profile ~/.bashrc PATH modifications should be in one place ( ~/.profile ), not several. This might help. Share

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1246213/gdm3-login-loop-lightdm-works-in-ubuntu-20-04
Nothing special about it, just a normal type in my password, press Enter, get a quick black screen, and get looped back to login. I'm currently using lightdm and I get no login loop. I type in my password and press Enter and it works perfectly. What I hate about using it though, is that it asks for authentication for almost everything.
