Re: How to connect to Xorg as remote desktop on my local network. I highly recommend x11vnc over tigervnc/realnvc. You'll get the same desktop that you are logged into at the main console instead of a new session. There are some quirks, especially if you use a display manager like SDDM that rotates the name of the xauth file every session.

Remote Desktop INTO Linux GUI (xrdp) - Rambling Nerd with ...

Xrdp does not follow the use pattern as Microsoft's RDP. When you log in to a Xrdp host (server) through a RDP client, you go into an intermediary (welcome interface) called sesman (Session Manager), which is a multi-protocol remote graphical session client (think of it as a very rudimentary Remmina).

These days, however, users are often not allowed to log in as root, which is great for security, but adds yet another step to our process. In step 5 we ran xterm as ourselves, which validates our setup is proper.

The solution to include the domain name in the credential is to name the connection to the domain name you want, so you can login as "mydomain\username". [mydomain] name=Xorg lib=libxup.so username=ask password=ask ip=127.0.0.1 port=-1 code=20 I did not find this solution anywhere and the only clue I had was in the manpages for xrdp.ini.
