DropBox / Portal Axles | Ford Raptor Forums

    https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/dropbox-portal-axles.36997/
The Raptor is already wide, adding portal boxes would make it about 3"+ wider per side. Most folks interested in rock crawling would have issues with the width, as the result would be about 14" wider (or more) than typical rock crawlers on the same trail. The second issue would be the rear suspension. It already has issues with axle wrap.

The portal bix from Axletech will reduce it to 5.32 and combining with Magnum 205 transfer case, my gear should be really low because I’m going to Moab like in June and I want to prepare for that. And yes, I want clearance too. Thank you 🙏🏻. Save Reply Fishsizzle Premium Member Joined Aug 26, 2017 636 Posts #10 · Feb 23, 2019 David Nguyen said:

Bolt-on portals - TIBUS Offroad

TIBUS Bolt-on portals are installed on the existing axles, with their special design maintaining their rotating direction. The portal reduction guides the power to the wheels, while the portal gear ratio reduces the load on the complete drive train since the torque acts only on the wheel.

Portal axles - IFS OFFROAD

There's no way Toyo, Ford, Dodge, Chevy or any other manufacturer will change to a portal axle system. That's why you don't see them often. Land Rovers working on a prototype portal axle rig and Mercedes uses them in Unimogs. As far as them being stronger I would bet a lot of money that they are. Think there's a reason the military uses them?
