When I try to connect through mstsc on Windows 10, I get a black screen after login and exit. I searched for half a day and tried many solutions but showed the same problem.. Below is the log when connecting. var/log/xrdp.log

Type in the command which Xvnc to see if there's anything on your path. 1 Looks for $HOME/startwm.sh and runs it if it finds it. 2. If it can't find $HOME/startwm.sh it calls /usr/libexec/xrdp/startwm-bash.sh. This in turn calls /usr/libexec/xrdp/startwm.sh as a login shell. Something's going wrong with these scripts if you haven't got a ~/.xsession-errors.

We have working CentOS environment where for one specific user RDP suddenly stopped working and now his RDP session closes right after he successfully logs in, without any traces in logs. while in this login box, no disconnect happens: after I put there correct login/password, I get black screen first and then mstsc window closes. I tried to connect from KDE remote connection application, but it also failed same way. xrdp.log doesn't seem to contain anything interesting:

3 Answers Sorted by: 7 Based on your description of the problem, this could be due to the fact that you are already logged in into your Ubuntu and you are trying to use the same user account to make your remote desktop connection.

xrdp session closes immediately after loggin in I am trying to connect to my Kali Linux VM through RDP, but after loggin in the screen immediately closes. First I was getting error complaining about the securetty file. This file didn't exist, I created it in /etc and this error stopped.
